Why this matters.
When I started my legal career more than 15 years ago, I started working with attorneys that really didn’t care about the Latinx community (Latino Community). They would adversize “Hablamos Español” or “Se Habla Español” but that meant they had one person in the office usually a secretary or paralegal that spoke some Spanish. Many times it wasn’t even Spanish but Portuguese. That felt misleading to me. Having the lawyer on a case speak Spanish and understand some of the cultural similarities between Latin American cultures was so important to me that I didn’t understand how this could go on.
Starting Something New:
Fast forward, when the opportunity arose to start my own project and business, I wanted to use the lessons that I had learned to create a place that would foster and nurture diversity rather than just check off a box by hiring one Spanish speaking person, I wanted the lawyers at our firm to be Latinos and Latinas, (Latinx), that way they would know first hand what the client needs were and communicate in Spanish what the legal situation was.
I wanted to bring the sophistication and technical know-how that I had learned representing predominantly English speaking companies and entrepreneurs to the Latinx community to open up more opportunities for Latinxs in the U.S.
There are many Spanish speaking lawyers and law firms that have serve the Latinx community, but at Latinx Legal our focus and our primary objective is to serve our community. That’s why I started this firm. To be 100% focused on our peoples and our communities.
Porque Abogados Latinos para gente Latina en los Estados Unidos es Importante:
Cuando empece mi Carrera como abogado en los Estados Unidos, trabaje con abogados que se anunciaban como que servían a la comunidad Latina pero en verdad, no les importaba en absoluto. Solo querían tener más clientes. Anunciaban “Hablamos español” o “Se habla español” pero en realidad tenían a una persona en la oficina que hablaba español usualmente era un asistente o paralegal. En muchos casos, era una persona que hablaba portugués y no español. (No sabían la diferencia). Los abogados no hablaban nada de español ni les interesaba tomarse el tiempo de conocer mas a sus clientes latinos. En mi opinión es importante que la abogada u abogado sepa el español, se pueda comunicar fácilmente en ese idioma, pero mas aun, que conozca y entienda las diferencias culturales entre latinoamericanos y pueda relacionarse auténticamente con estos.
Empezando un Nuevo Concepto:
Por lo tanto, cuando surgío la oportunidad de crear esta compañía, quise crear un lugar que celebra las cosas que nos unen como latinos y latinas, y fomentar la diversidad orgánicamente o naturalmente en los servicios legales. No quería hacer lo mismo que otros estaban haciendo. Por eso quería dedicarnos directamente a nuestra gente en los Estados Unidos. Quería coger lo que aprendí en años de práctica ayudando a compañías y emprendedores norte-americanos (anglos de habla ingles), y apoyar a la comunidad latina en los Estados Unidos con ese conocimiento y sofisticación legal.
Eso es lo que nos diferencia de los demás, el conocimiento y sofisticación de nuestros servicios legales dirigidos 100% a personas latinas en los Estados Unidos, o que buscan estar en los Estados Unidos.
